Keep it simple CLIL!

CLIL and the development of language skills (but not only!)

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the MIM Guidelines for teaching Civics draw the school's attention to citizenship education.

Contributing to raising citizens who are aware and responsible towards the world around us is one of the tasks of educational institutions and teachers.

Starting from nursery and primary school, schools have the opportunity to raise awareness among boys and girls towards global issues and values such as:

• peace education and conflict management;
• legality and solidarity;
• care for oneself, for the community, for the artistic and cultural heritage;
• environmental protection;
• sustainability;
• non-discrimination and gender equality.

These topics find a natural interconnection with school subjects including English.

The brand-new Keep it simple CLIL guide! aims to create this connection through English, using the CLIL methodology, a methodology that fits perfectly with the citizenship paths promoted by the MIM.

Through CLIL we can expose children to useful, innovative and meaningful learning experiences: children learn to communicate, think and learn in a foreign language using English as the vehicular language in the broader and more transversal field of Civic Education.

Il CLIL e lo sviluppo delle competenze linguistiche (ma non solo!)

L’Agenda 2030 per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile, e le Linee guida del MIM per l’insegnamento dell’Educazione Civica richiamano l’attenzione della scuola sull’educazione alla cittadinanza.

Contribuire a crescere cittadini consapevoli e responsabili verso il mondo che ci circonda è uno dei compiti delle istituzioni scolastiche e dei docenti.

La scuola già dalla materna e dalla scuola primaria, ha l’opportunità di sensibilizzare i bambini e le bambine verso tematiche e valori globali come:

• l’educazione alla pace e la gestione dei conflitti;
• la legalità e la solidarietà;
• la cura di sé, della comunità, del patrimonio artistico e di quello culturale;
• la tutela dell’ambiente;
• la sostenibilità;
• la non discriminazione e la parità di genere.

Questi nuclei tematici trovano una naturale interconnessione con le discipline scolastiche inclusa la lingua inglese.

In arrivo, a breve, la nuovissima guida Keep it simple CLIL! che si prefigge proprio di creare questo collegamento attraverso l’inglese, utilizzando la metodologia CLIL, metodologia che si sposa perfettamente con i percorsi di cittadinanza promossi dal MIM.

Attraverso il CLIL possiamo esporre i bambini a esperienze di apprendimento utili, innovative e ricche di significato: i bambini imparano a comunicare, pensare e apprendere in lingua straniera utilizzando l’inglese come lingua veicolare nell’ambito più ampio e trasversale dell’Educazione Civica.
