Antica quanto l'umanità stessa, la narrazione è una forma di insegnamento naturale e originale. Può essere uno strumento potente per gli insegnanti di lingue in quanto offre ai giovani studenti una finestra “magica” su un mondo completamente nuovo: un'esperienza avventurosa attraverso i personaggi della storia.

Chiaramente, spetta alle capacità di narrazione dell'insegnante assicurarsi che i bambini siano pienamente coinvolti e intraprendano questo entusiasmante viaggio nella storia.

L'insegnante, in qualità di narratore, leggerà, reciterà, racconterà, reciterà, darà voce ai personaggi, mimerà, descriverà, spiegherà, creerà suspense e svilupperà la storia davanti agli sguardi curiosi dei bambini che facilmente si distraggono in classe.

Quindi, di quali strumenti, tecniche e materiali abbiamo bisogno per aiutare gli studenti ad immergersi in una nuova lingua attraverso una storia?

Cosa può offrire lo storytelling ai giovani studenti di lingue in classe?

Esistono diverse tecniche che gli insegnanti possono utilizzare per raccontare storie semplici in classe e introdurre nuovi elementi di vocabolario o parti e strutture linguistiche agli studenti senza che nemmeno se ne accorgano.

Illustrazioni, immagini, flashcard, flipbook e musica insieme ad altre cose come voci divertenti, gesti, espressioni facciali, recitazione o giochi di ruolo possono sicuramente migliorare l'impatto delle storie sui nostri studenti.

L’incontro formativo “Playing with the stories” di venerdì 24 marzo alle ore 17:00 è dedicato al “How-To” dello storytelling. Suggerimenti e idee saranno condivisi mentre esamineremo questo metodo come un approccio efficace per presentare un nuovo linguaggio, trasmettere conoscenze e valori.

Storytelling: playing with the stories

“As old as the humanity itself, storytelling is a natural,  original form of teaching .It can be a powerful tool for language teachers as it provides young learners with a “magic” window to a whole new world : an adventurous experience through the story characters.

Clearly, it is up to the teacher's storytelling skills to make sure that the kids get fully on board and embark on this exciting story journey.

The teacher, as a narrator, will read, act, tell, perform, give voice to the characters, mime, recite, unravel, describe, explain , create suspense and unfold the story in front of the curious eyes of the easily-distractable children in the class .

So, what tools, techniques and materials do we need to help students immerse in a new language through a story ?

What can storytelling offer to young language learners in the classroom?

There are different techniques teachers can use to tell simple stories in class and introduce new vocabulary items or language chunks and structures to the students without   them even notice.

Illustrations,visuals, flashcards , flipbooks and music along with other things such as funny voices, gestures, facial expressions, acting or role play games, can definitely enhance the impact of the stories on our students

The webinar “Playing with the stories” on Friday 24th March at 17:00 is dedicated to the “How-To” of the storytelling. Tips and ideas will be shared as we will be looking at this method as an effective approach to present new language, transmit knowledge as well as values . ”
